termite baiting stations

Termite Baiting Stations

Termite bait stations may be as simple as a piece of timber sitting on the ground, or a sophisticated box of timbers and cellulose buried in the ground (your house is a very large bait station). The principle is always the same, termites are attracted to the station because of the food in it. If the station is checked regularly, the feeding termites can be treated with a product that they will take back to the nest and destroy the colony.

Bait stations are a cost effective way of monitoring the activity in your yard and controlling small outbreaks. They are a great secondary system to complement a chemical or physical termite barrier around your home, and can be an alternative for people extremely sensitive to pesticides.

There are however some drawbacks -

  • If they are not inspected regularly, the termites will eat the food in the station and move on
  • They can be disturbed in public areas, or by pets or children making them unattractive to termites
  • There is no guarantee the termites won't go around them and into your home

For less than a couple of hundred dollars, we can come to your home, supply you with bait stations, discuss the best areas to install them and teach you how to inspect them. Once you have found activity, call us and we can bait them with one of our environmentally safe control agents.
